Russia: FIFA 2018 Organising Committee inspect Rostov Arena ahead of World Cup 2018

A FIFA delegation together with representatives of the Russia-2018 Organising Committee visited the Rostov Arena in the city of Rostov-on-Don on Friday. The visit is part of the process to check the progress on construction of operational infrastructure of stadia ahead of the FIFA 2018 World Cup.

The FIFA delegation, led by Competitions Director Colin Smith, was shown around the stadium where they inspected the work that is being carried out. According to Smith, the current assessment tour “will be focused on the operational use of the stadium during the World Cup”. He explained that the delegation consists of representatives from various areas who will look into “ticketing, hospitality, competitions, guest management, media, broadcasters.”

The 2018 FIFA World Cup it is scheduled to take place in Russia from 14 June to 15 July, 2018. A total of 64 matches will be played in 12 venues located in 11 cities across Russia, with the final being expected to take place in Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
