Italy: Cat rescued after 15 days under earthquake rubble
A cat was rescued after being trapped under rubble in Amatrice, Thursday, where it had spent 15 days after the region was hit by an earthquake on August 24.
Peter the cat was found after firefighters heard his meows from under the rubble while recovering personal property from a collapsed house.
The cat was malnourished and injured, but had miraculously survived by drinking rainwater that had dripped down to where he was trapped. The cat is being treated by a veterinarian and is not in a critical condition.
The earthquake that killed an estimated 284 people was felt across central Italy, including in the capital Rome, some 126 kilometres (76 miles) away from the quake's epicentre, in the town of Norcia.
