UK: Disability campaigners block Westminster Bridge to protest benefit cuts
Around 50 protesters from the group Disabled People Against Cuts (DPAC) blocked Westminster bridge in London on Wednesday, in protest against government cuts to disability benefits.
Protesters held large banners reading “No More Deaths From Benefit Cuts.” The protest, which also drew attention to the treatment of disabled athletes at the Paralympic games in Rio, was met with a heavy police presence, which eventually broke it up.
At least one arrest was made.
