The anti-immigration party Alternative for Germany (AfD) candidate Leif-Erik Holm cast his vote in the state parliamentary elections at a polling station in Schwerin Klein-Trebbow, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern on Sunday.

Holm, who was accompanied by his family, said he was hoping AfD would get a percentage “well in the twenties”, and was optimistic that the party could become the strongest in the region.

If the party were to win, it would be the first major victory since its founding of AfD in 2013.
