
Russia: Putin meets Security Council ahead of Eastern Economic Forum
Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the permanent members of Russia's Security Council in Moscow, Monday, to discuss key issues of the forthcoming Eastern Economic Forum, which is due to take place at Vladivostok in early September.
Among the officials who attended the meeting were Russia's Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu.
The members of the Security Council discussed the outcome of Russian-US talks on Syria, which took place in Geneva last week. The upcoming talks with South Korea's President Park Geun-hye and Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe were also on the agenda.
Earlier this month, top Russian and US diplomats met in the Swiss city of Geneva where they vowed to boost cooperation between the two countries on resolving the war in Syria.
