The Russian Ministry of Defence released footage of Russian Su-34 warplanes taking off from Iran’s Hamadan airbase for the second day running, on Wednesday, and dropping bombs on targets of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) in the Deir ez-Zor Province, Syria.

According to the Defence Ministry more than 150 militants were killed including foreign fighters as well as two Islamic State command posts and two major training camps.

On Tuesday, targets were also hit with long-range Tupolev Tu-22M3s as well as Sukhoi Su-34s. The Ministry reported that the Su-34s took off from the Iranian base carrying the maximum possible combat load of high-explosives.

Air cover was provided by Su-35 warplanes that were flying out of Russia’s Hmeymim base in the Latakia Province. After the bombing raid was successfully completed all aircraft returned safely back to their respective bases.

The first airstrikes launched by Russia from Iran took off on Tuesday and hit Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) and Jabhat Fateh al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) target in the Aleppo, Deir ez-Zor and Idlib Provinces.
