
Tunisia: Former Interior Minister Youssef Chahed appointed new PM
Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi named former Interior Minister Youssef Chahed the new Prime Minister of Tunisia in Tunis, Wednesday.
The new PM offered his thanks to the President Essebsi, and stated, “Today we embark on a new phase which demands all of us to make effort and sacrifices, to show courage, selflessness and extraordinary frameworks for solutions."
The Tunisian Parliament now needs to approve the President’s nomination within one month. Previous Prime Minister Habib Essid was sacked by the Parliament on July 30 after losing a vote of no confidence.
