Russia's Sports Minister Vitali Mutko awarded the winners of the Stars 2016 tournament at Moscow's Znamensky Brothers Stadium on Thursday.

Organised by the All-Russia Athletics Federation (ARAF), the tournament was attended by 135 Russian athletes competing in disciplines such as high jumping, javelin throwing and racing.

The Stars-2016 was reported as being a consolation games for those athletes unable to compete at the Rio Olympics after the IAAF indefinitely suspended the ARAF over state-sponsored doping. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) deferred the decision to let individual sporting federations decide whether to let Russian athletes compete.
