
USA: Secret National Reconnaissance Office launch NROL-61 satellite
A United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V rocket carrying an NROL-61 satellite has successfully launched from the Space Launch Complex-41 at Florida's Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Thursday.
The rocket was carrying the NROL-61 satellite to an undisclosed orbit in support of US national defense. The rocket’s mission is classified as top secret.
The National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) is the government agency that runs a fleet of orbital assets. This was the ULA’s 6th launch in 2016 and the 109th ULA flight since the company’s formation in 2006.
