Russia: Russian and Chinese special forces hold joint anti-terror training operation
Russian and Chinese special forces troops staged joint anti-terror drills on Thursday in the Moscow region. The drills involved an assault on an occupied building, evacuation by helicopter, and a demonstration of martial arts by Chinese troops.
Taking part in the drills were the special forces of the recently formed National Guard of Russia and those of the People's Armed Police of China. Commenting on the exercises, the head of Russia's National Guard, Viktor Zolotov praised the Chinese troops as they were "acting under special conditions, in an unknown situation, on unknown territory."
The head of the Chinese delegation, Van Nin stated that the operation was "a very important event in Russia in order to optimise the security forces and raise the military and fighting efficiency of the special forces. I think that the new National Guard force of the Russian Federation will provide all the necessary public security including anti-terrorism measures, and will help promote stability and peace."
