
Italy: Renzi visits site of Puglia train crash after 23 dead, 50 injured
Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi visited the site of a deadly train accident, which killed at least 23 and left over 50 injured in the southern Italian region of Puglia, Tuesday.
At least 23 people were killed and over 50 injured after a head-on collision between two trains between Corato and Andria in the southern Italian region of Puglia, early on Tuesday morning.
"Today we have to focus on the mechanisms of the rescue operation which is an extraordinary effort," said Deputy President of the Province of Barletta-Andria-Trani, Giuseppe Corrado, in an interview with the media.
Declaring an emergency medical situation he added that "we need blood in the hospitals, we need extra assistance in the hospitals because we really have to focus on what is happening right now."
