
Azerbaijan: Lavrov arrives in Baku to discuss Nagorno-Karabakh resolution
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in Baku on Monday that Moscow appreciates the attitude of Azerbaijan towards Russian attempts to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Lavrov held talks with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in the capital on Monday.
A joint statement on the settlement of the conflict had been composed by the presidents of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan in St. Petersburg in June.
Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to normalise the situation along the contact line between their respective forces and to increase the number of international observers.
The sides also agreed to create conditions for further political dialogue in a bid to find a permanent settlement.
