UK: See '1,000 mph' Bloodhound car loaded into a Boeing 747
The Farnborough airshow kicked off on Monday, where industry giants such as Boeing and Airbus presented their latest models.
One of the highlights of the opening day was the first practice loading of a Bloodhound SSC supersonic car into a CargoLogicAir Boeing 747-8F. Visitors were able to see the high-speed vehicle being loaded into the nose of the aircraft.
The team behind the vehicle say it can hit speeds of up to 1,609 km/h (1,000 miles/h), and plan to break the Outright World Land Speed Record on Hakskeen Pan in the Northern Cape of South Africa in October 2017. CargoLogicAir has reportedly signed a memorandum of understanding to become the exclusive air cargo partner for the Bloodhound SSC project.
Martyn Davidson, Operations Director of the Bloodhound SSC team, said that "the ability to transport the main equipment in a one-day jump is fantastic" and stressed that CargoLogicAir is "in the perfect position to do that for us."
