
France: Lyon erupts as France beats Ireland to reach Euro quarter-finals
French fans celebrated in Lyon on Sunday, after watching their national football team qualify for the Euro 2016 quarter-finals, beating Ireland 2-1.
Supporters cheered, sang and drank on the street. Some of them lit flares and used coloured smoke cans. Several Irish fans also joined them for the celebrations in a festive atmosphere.
France won after overcoming an early penalty goal in the second minute by Ireland, with two goals coming from French striker Antoine Griezmann.
