
UK: Thomas Mair, suspect in MP Jo Cox murder, appears in court
Thomas Mair appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court, in London, Saturday, to stand accused of shooting Labour MP Jo Cox in Birstall two days earlier. He is also facing charges regarding the illegal possession of a firearm.
During his court appearance, Mair reportedly introduced himself as "Death to Traitors, Freedom for Britain."
Cox died after being shot and stabbed outside a library in Birstall, West Yorkshire, on Thursday, following a town meeting. Mair, 52, was arrested by police following the attack. According to one witness, Mair allegedly shouted "Britain First" prior to carrying out the attack.
