UK: Former Chelsea Doctor Caneiro arrives at court for 1st day of Mourinho tribunal
Former Chelsea doctor Eva Carneiro attended the first court hearing against former Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho in South London, Monday, where she gave evidence of alleged discrimination and claimed for unfair dismissal after Mourinho allegedly insulted her during a match last August and then dropped her as team doctor.
The case opened at Croydon Employment Tribunal, South London, and is expected to last seven to 10 days. However, Mourinho did not attend the first day of the case, therefore it has been adjourned until 14:00 local time (13:00 GMT) on Tuesday. Carneiro has reportedly already rejected a £1.2 million (€1.5 million) settlement from Chelsea over the incident.
The tribunal comes after one of the most public in-club clashes the Premier League has seen. Mourinho allegedly called Carneiro a "daughter of a whore" after she rushed onto the pitch to treat player Eden Hazard for an injury during Chelsea's first Premier League match against Swansea of the 2015-16 season. The 42-year old doctor didn't appear for first-team duties again, and later left the club.
