Germany: Cyclists ride for better infrastructure in world's largest bike demo in Berlin
Several thousand bike enthusiasts attended the world’s largest bicycle demonstration in Berlin, Sunday, in order to raise awareness and call for better cycling infrastructure in the city.
Organised by the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC) and running for the 40th time, participants of all ages took part in the rally, which ran through Central Berlin and ended at the Brandenburg Gate around 14:30 local time (12:30 GMT).
Known as the 'wheel referendum,' organisers hope to use the event to help promote safety for cyclists on the city's roads. According to recent figures, seven cyclists have been killed on Berlin's roads already this year.
