USA: Messi late to join teammates in San Jose after 4-day tax fraud trial
Argentinian football player Lionel Messi arrived to San Jose on Friday early morning, to join his national team members ahead of their first game against the Chilean national team on Monday.
The FC Barcelona player missed the first preparations with his teammates after he had to postpone his arrival on Thursday, due to a 4-day trial session.
Messi was accused of tax fraud after it emerged that he used tax heavens in Belize and Uruguay, as well as companies in the UK and Switzerland to avoid paying €4 million ($4.5 million) between 2007 and 2009. Messi's final sentence hearing is expected in few weeks time.
