Syria: Russian army transports 10yr old Syrian girl to receive medical treatment in Russia
Sidra Zaarur, a 10 year old Syrian girl, departed aboard a military transport plane from the Hmeymim airbase near Latakia on Wednesday, after losing her legs during shelling in Aleppo on April 16. Zaarur is en route for Russia where she will continue her treatment.
Zaarur was transported from Aleppo to a Russian base in the Syrian Arab Republic by a Mil Mi-24 helicopter, where she was subsequently placed into an Ilyushin Il-76 aircraft heading towards Russia.
The decision was made to transfer Zaarur her after her relatives asked Russian soldiers in Syria to provide her with treatment in the Russian Federation.
According to Russia's Defence Ministry, in the same attack where Zaarur lost her legs, her elder sister was reportedly killed.
