Poland: NATO to strengthen 'defence' against alleged Russian aggression - Stoltenberg

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced that NATO would work on strengthening the "collective defence" against Russia's alleged “aggressive actions” during a joint press conference with Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski in Warsaw on Tuesday.

Speaking on the upcoming NATO summit in Warsaw in July, Stoltenberg said that it was going to be a "landmark summit taking place in a time when we face a new and more demanding security environment, both with threats and challenges emanating from the east and from the south."

"With Russia's aggressive actions against Ukraine and its military build up from the Baltic to the Black Sea. And violent extremism from ISIL and other terrorist groups across the Middle East and North Africa, fuelling the refugee and migrant crisis", said Stoltenberg. NATO "must strengthen our collective defence and we must project stability beyond our borders" he added.

NATO lawmakers assembled in Warsaw on Tuesday to agree on the agenda for the forthcoming Warsaw Summit on July 8 and 9.
