Germany: Oh my Spaghetti! - Pastafarians hold 'noodle worship' in Leipzig
The German branch of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM) gathered at Leipzig's Augustusplatz for a "noodle worship," as the followers call their services, on Sunday.
Led by the chairman of the organisation's German branch, Ruediger Weida, the crowd participated in a ritualistic conversion ceremony for new 'Pastafarians' which included eating pasta and drinking beer. Members of the congregation dressed up as pirates, performing hymns, prayers and script readings.
The FSM was created in 2005 by American Bobby Henderson, and is legally recognised as a religion in several countries. Pastarians believe that the universe was created by an invisible and undetectable 'Flying Spaghetti Monster.'
