Greece: Refugees evicted from Idomeni gather at new makeshift camp
Some 2,500 refugees have set up a makeshift camp near an EKO petrol station close to Polykastro, with the site's population increasing every day.
Many of the refugees arrived at the camp by foot from Idomeni following the eviction of the Idomeni refugee camp. Volunteers from Nurture Project International and Doctors Without Borders (MSF) were seen offering food to the asylum seekers on Saturday.
Over the past few months, Idomeni, a sprawling expanse of tents on Greece's northern border with Macedonia, had hosted thousands of refugees until the local police began clearing it on Tuesday. According to reports, the camp was already cleared by Thursday. Volunteers protested against the forced evacuation of refugees from the camp by blocking the Evzoni - Thessaloniki road on Wednesday.
