Germany: Manturov signs Memorandum for Cooperation at 'Russia Day'
The Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov and Minister President of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Ervin Sellering signed a ‘Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation’ during the second annual ‘Russia Day’, held in Rostock, Wednesday.
Later on Wednesday German Federal Minister for Business Sigmar Gabriel attended the event, he is expected to deliver a speech at the gala evening event. Sellering commented on Gabriel’s attendance saying, “We note that on this 'Russia Day' that there is a great deal less criticism and, instead, today the Federal Business Minister is taking part in 'Russia Day'. I consider that a very positive sign."
The signing ceremony took place at the Hansa Messe, where over 600 representatives of business groups and companies from both Germany and Russia gathered to discuss ways of developing cooperation. This day of cooperation happened in the backdrop of ongoing Western sanctions and Russian counter-measures over Moscow’s involvement in the Ukrainian crisis.
