Chile: Protesters march for legalisation of cannabis
Hundreds of demonstrators marched through Santiago, Sunday, to call for cannabis legalisation.
The protesters were also calling for the right for Chileans to cultivate their own cannabis, as they demonstrated down Santiago’s main avenue and up to Chile’s parliament.
At the front of the protest, activists carried a long banner proclaiming, "I'm marching, I'm signing. For health, dignity and freedom."
In Chile, private consumption of cannabis is permitted; however, the cultivation, public consumption and sale of the plant remain illegal.
