Indonesia: Clashes erupt during anti-corruption demo in Jakarta

Hundreds of protesters clashed with police in Jakarta, Friday, after demonstrators gathered outside the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) building to demand the arrest of the governor of Jakarta, Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaya Purnama.

Police forces fired tear gas canisters and used water cannon to disperse the protesters from the front of the building, while in turn demonstrators threw bottles, rocks and other items at the officers.

Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaya Purnama had been questioned as a witness over a various cases relating to land acquisition and reclamation deals.
