      Indian Member of Parliament for the right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Poonamben Madam, sustained fractures and head injuries after falling into an eight feet deep sewage channel in the Jalaram Nagar area of Jamnagar, Monday, after the concrete footbridge she was standing on collapsed.

      The BJP politician was meeting with locals who were blocking a demolition drive in their local area when the collapse occurred, causing her and others around her to fall into the open sewer channel. Madam was rushed to a local hospital in Jamnagar before being airlifted to Mumbai for further treatment.
