Spain: 'No Fear' - Thousands march for Catalan independence in Barcelona
More than 5,000 people rallied in Barcelona, Saturday, to protest against 'the prosecution of separatism,' a slogan put forward by pro Catalan independence party Popular Unity Candidacy (CUP).
Under the motto 'No Fear,' protesters carried banners with slogans such as "No to the state's repression. Disobedience. Unilateral referendum," and "Neither state repression nor fortress Europe. We fight for the Catalan Republic," while waving Estelada flags.
The protest comes in response to the Spanish government's investigations against Catalan politicians following their support of the Catalan independence declaration in November 2015.
