Iraq: Protesters storm and occupy Iraqi Parliament building in Baghdad
Protesters occupied the Green Zone outside the parliament building in Baghdad, Saturday, before storming and entering the building. They were seen cheering and dancing inside the parliament building while waving Iraqi national flags.
Supporters of Iraqi Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr have been protesting against alleged government corruption for months outside parliament.
They broke into the Green Zone, a heavily fortified area which hosts government buildings and a number of foreign embassies, after MPs once again failed to approve a new government.
The government has reportedly convened a state of emergency.
