USA: West Wing's 'C.J. Cregg' crashes White House press briefing
US actress Allison Janney surprised reporters after she took the podium in the White House press room during a briefing in Washington D.C. on Friday, reprising her role as White House press secretary C.J. Cregg from the hit NBC series The West Wing.
Standing at the lectern, Janney, who won four Emmys for her role as C.J. Cregg, cracked a few inside jokes from The West Wing as White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest and a group of reporters watched on in amusement.
Janney's appearance came just one day before the White House Correspondents Dinner, an annual event where celebrities, members of the press and political figures gather to watch as the president delivers a lighthearted speech filled with jokes and humour.
The West Wing is a political drama series written by Aaron Sorkin that was originally broadcast on NBC from 1999 to 2006. The series was primarily set in the West Wing of the White House during a fictitious democratic administration. The West Wing won three Golden Globes and 26 Emmy Awards during its time on air.
