Brazil: Rousseff supporters rally against impeachment in Sao Paulo
Scores of protesters, many of them students, marched through the streets of Sao Paulo on Saturday, to show their support for Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff as she faces an impeachment process.
Demonstrators carried signs reading "1964 never again" and "students against the coup".
On April 17, two-thirds of the 513 delegates in Brazil's lower chamber voted in favour of impeaching Rousseff. The matter will now be voted upon in the Senate by May 17 latest, and if the upper house decides Rousseff should stand trial, she could be suspended for 180 days, with Vice President Michel Temer expected to take temporary control of the country. In the event that Rousseff is found guilty by a two-thirds Senate majority, she will be removed from office.
