Ecuador: People trapped after bridge collapses following huge quake
Footage captured a collapsed bridge at Avenida de las Americas in Guayaquil, as a result of a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the region on Saturday night. Several people are reported to be trapped under the bridge and one person has been reported dead.
At least 16 people have been killed in Portoviejo, with a further 10 reported dead in Manta, and two more in Guayas, according to Ecuadorian Vice President Jorge Glas.
Ecuador's Naval Oceanographic Institute has recommended that citizens stay away from the coast as waves could reach one metre (three feet) above tide level. Six provinces have declared a state of emergency.
