
Montenegro: Yuri Gagarin monument unveiled for Cosmonautics Day
A monument depicting late Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was unveiled in Radovici near Tivat on Tuesday, marking Cosmonautics Day and celebrating Gagarin's achievement of being the first man in space 55 years ago.
Yuri Gagarin was 27 years old when he became the first man in space. On April 12, 1961 he boarded the Vostok-1 spacecraft from the Baikonur space centre marking a new era in human history. The day is celebrated in Russia and many former Soviet-bloc states as Cosmonautics Day.
