In an exclusive interview with RT, the head of the Russian Federal Space Agency Igor Komarov discussed Russia's leadership in the space industry, in Moscow on Sunday.

Komarov praised his colleagues saying, "We are leaders in many areas, particularly in launching vehicles and services [in which] we hold the first place. He added, Russia is also leading the way in the development of spacecraft engines and manned flights.

Despite this, Komarov admits that work needs to be done in other areas. He indicated "spacecraft, communication [and] remote sensing." Komarov insisted, "There is something to learn and something to work on."

Russia and international space community will celebrate 55 years since the first manned space flight, on April 12. Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin spent 108 minutes in space on April 12, 1961 - a day that Russians mark every year as the 'Day of Cosmonautics.'
