Holy See: Pope Francis blesses 5-yr-old girl losing her sight
Elizabeth Myers, a five-year-old girl suffering from a rare genetic disease that will soon leave her blind, met Pope Francis at St. Peter's Square in Vatican City, Wednesday.
The Pope blessed her while the public watched on, as part of a “visual bucket list” that her parents made for Elizabeth before she loses her sight.
The experience was set up by non-profit organisation UNITALSI, which is aimed at helping disabled Catholic pilgrims. During the trip Elizabeth was accompanied by her parents, Steven and Christine Myers, and her three-year-old sister, Makayla.
