
Spain: FC Barcelona fans and president pay tribute to Johan Cruyff
Hundreds of Barcelona supporters came out to the Camp Nou stadium on Saturday in order to pay tribute to footballer Johan Cruyff, who passed away on Thursday.
President of the Barcelona Football Club Josep Maria Bartomeu spoke at the ceremony, where he praised Cruyff’s unique talent. Bartomeu said, "he was a modern player, a nonconformist player. A player who indeed revolutionised the world of football."
Johan Cruyff died of cancer at the age of 68 in his house in Barcelona on Thursday. In his accomplished career he played in 48 matches for the Netherlands’ national team and scored a total of 33 goals for his country. He also played in 143 games for Barcelona before going on to manage the club in 1988.
