Russia: Putin meets Abu Dhabi crown prince to discuss the Middle East, economic ties
Russian President Vladimir Putin met with a United Arab Emirates' delegation, headed by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to discuss trade and economic cooperation as well as the situation in the Middle East.
"Unfortunately the level of trade turnover has slightly decreased due to certain reasons," said Putin, before adding that "the joint intergovernmental commission is actively working in four main spheres [to improve this]."
The Russian president also stressed that the sheikh's visit was "well-timed" in order to discuss the political situation in the Middle East.
Sheikh Al Nahyan noted that "Moscow plays an important role in the Middle East region," saying, "that is why we believe it is very important to maintain dialogue on the development of our mutual cooperation as well as on how to make the Middle East a more stable region."
