      China: Russia-China relations 'strengthened' as Ivanov visits Beijing

      Chief of Russia's Presidential Administration Sergei Ivanov met with the Director of the General Office of the Communist Party Li Zhanshu, in Beijing, Thursday, to reaffirm the two countries' commitment to close political ties and cooperation.

      "We have opened a new channel of cooperation between China and Russia," said Zhanshu, adding that this was achieved through establishing renewed "relationships" between the "staff of the Central Committee and the presidential administration" in 2014.

      Commenting on the renewed cooperation, Ivanov said, "we appreciate the suggestions of our leaders to make direct contacts on a wide range of issues between the General Office of the Central Committee and the Presidential Administration of Russia."

      Ivanov arrived in Beijing on Thursday to meet Chinese officials including the head of the Communications Department of the Central Committee and the Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection. Ivanov is also scheduled to meet with the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Xi Jinping on Friday.
