Greece: Kurdish refugees celebrate Newroz at the Idomeni refugee camp
Hundreds of Kurdish refugees gathered around several bonfires at the refugee camp in Idomeni, Sunday, to celebrate the Persian and Kurdish New Year holiday of Newroz.
Children and adults sang and danced during sunset with people taking turns to jump over the bonfire in the traditional festivities of Newroz.
The celebrations took place right next to the border between Greece and Macedonia, with military tanks from the Macedonian army patrolling on the other side of the border.
Around 14,000 refugees remain stranded in Idomeni, with Doctors Without Borders having warned that the health of the refugees has worsened since Macedonian authorities closed the country's borders with Greece.
