UK: Masked protesters march on Downing Street against British-Saudi arms deals
Amnesty International paraded dummy missiles along London's Westminster Bridge and Downing Street on Friday, in order to draw attention to the UK government’s arms deals with Saudi Arabia.
The human rights campaign group criticise the exportation of UK-manufactured arms to Saudi Arabia, despite the risk that they could be used on Yemen.
Amnesty International UK Director Kate Allen attended the march, where she denounced the British government’s position, “Saudi Arabia is engaged in a war in Yemen. 3,000 civilians are dead, 700 children and the UK sold nearly billion pounds worth of arms in a six month period last year. The International Trade Treaty, which this government championed, which this government has signed, is being broken.”
