Spain: Students and police clash in historic streets of Pamplona
Police officers clashed with students in Pamplona, Thursday, as protests continued over the rising cost of higher education.
Police fired projectiles and chased students through the historic streets of the city. In turn, protesters launched volleys of bottles and bricks at the oncoming officers.
Protests across Spain against the government’s so-called ‘3+2’ system of public higher education have mounted in recent months. The proposal would mean it would take three years to earn a bachelor’s degree and two years to attain a masters thereafter, reforms which would significantly increase the cost of higher education.
