Syria: WHO delivers vital medical supplies to war-torn Moadamieh
The World Health Organization (WHO) delivered urgently needed medical supplies to the besieged city of Moadamieh, 10 km (6.21 miles) south of Damascus, Wednesday.
WHO had delivered 15 tons of medical supplies to Moadamieh last month but some vital medicines were removed, the organisation wrote in a statement. Last year, the health organisation reported nine incidents of removal of medical supplies destined for Homs, Aleppo, and rural Damascus governorates. As a result, more than 140,000 people were deprived of vital medical support, WHO added.
Since January 2016, the World Health Organisation has delivered medicines, medical supplies, and vaccines to a number of hard-to-reach areas in Syria, such as eastern Aleppo city, Douma, Madaya, Kafraya, Foah, Az-Zabadani, Kafr Batna, and Mouadamieh.
