Germany: Anti-AfD protesters interrupt public meeting in Backnang
Several protesters disrupted an election rally event held by Germany's populist AfD party in Backnang, near Stuttgart on Thursday. The protesters were removed from the meeting hall by a security guard.
As well as the demonstrators inside the meeting, large crowds gathered outside the entrance to the event, with placards and banners expressing their disagreement of the AfD and their policies.
The event, held ahead of the local elections in Backnang, was attended by Joerg Meuthen, the AfD party candidate for Baden-Wurttemberg, as well as AfD spokesperson Frauke Petry and AfD MEP Beatrix von Storch.
