Political and media adviser to Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, Bouthaina Shaaban, gave an interview in Moscow, Wednesday, in which she rejected US Secretary of State John Kerry's suggestion for a partition of Syria, saying "the Syrian people have fought for five years against any partition plan of Syria."

Speaking about the upcoming ceasefire, Shaaban stated that "in the Russian-American agreement, they said anybody who is exposed to fire can return fire also."

Shaaban went on to state that "if it were not for the support of regional parties, in particular Turkey and Saudi Arabia, it would not be difficult to defeat ISIL [Islamic State]." She added, "But the money, the resources, the facilitation comes from these countries to ISIL. ISIL does not live in a vacuum; it lives with the support of regional countries, particularly Saudi Arabia and Turkey, and the political support of the United States and the West."

Regarding the Russian assistance in Syria, Shaaban said that "the Russian [air force] and the Syrian Army only targeted terrorists," adding "I am tired of saying how many unfounded news come to us every day from Western media. They fabricate news about Russia, about Syria, about what is happening on the ground, but they have no grain of truth in them." Saaban continued to say that "in fact it was their coalition who was targeting civilians and did not target terrorists."

Shaaban finished the interview saying, that "only when the Russian planes came to Syria, that we were able to control some parts of the border with Turkey, and we stopped a bit of the support for terrorists," adding "that is why Turkey started to attack us directly, which means that these terrorists belong totally and completely to Turkey and Saudi Arabia."
