Turkey: Ankara hospital in chaos after bomb blast kills 28, injures 61
Ambulances rushed casualties to the Ankara Numune Hospital after a large explosion rocked the Turkish capital on Wednesday evening, with reports indicating that at least 28 people were killed in the blast and 61 others injured.
Local media reported that the blast was a bomb, which targetted a military vehicle in central Ankara, close to Turkey's parliament and military facilities.
Turkey has been hit by a series of attacks in recent months, including a suicide bomb claimed by the so-called Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) that killed 10 people in Istanbul last month. Ankara is also currently engaged in a military operation against the Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK) in the country's southeast and on the border with neighbouring Syria.
