Switzerland: Press gather outside FIFA HQ as Blatter appeals 8-year ban
Press waited outside the FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Tuesday, as suspended FIFA president Sepp Blatter made an appeal against his eight-year ban from all football-related activity.
Blatter was banned from all football-related activity by FIFA's ethics committee in December 2015, over a "disloyal payment" of $1.3 million (€1.16 million) he made to then president of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Michel Platini in 2011. Platini is also appealing against his own eight-year ban over the payment.
Both cases will be presented before the FIFA appeals committee, headed by president of the Bermuda Football Association Larry Mussenden. The committee has the power to overturn, reduce or increase the bans.
