and coordination between the US military leading the coalition and the military of the Russian Federation, given that we are working in Syria upon the invitation of the Syrian government and we have certain influence on Damascus."

Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (English): "Forty-nine."

Philip Hammond, British Foreign Minister (English): "I do not speak Russian, but I was judging something close to zero."

German, Russian and British foreign ministers Franz-Walter Steinmeier, Sergei Lavrov and Philip Hammond discussed the likelihood of Syrian groups sticking to recently hashed out cease-fire plans for the conflict-stricken country during the 52nd Munich Security Conference on Saturday.

When asked on how likely the Syrian Army and opposition groups will fulfil the negotiated ceasefire, Frank-Walter Steinmeier declared "fifty-one percent."

Lavrov gave a more detailed answer, saying that progress in the peace process depends on the US agreeing to coordinate their fronts with Russia in Syria. Upon the moderator's insistence to hear a number, Lavrov said "Forty-nine," whereas Hammond thought it sounded "something close to zero."

The 52nd MSC kicked off at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in central Munich on Friday and runs until Sunday, February 14. Up to 600 international senior policymakers, including 30 heads of state and government, and 70 foreign and defence ministers are expected to attend. The refugee crisis, the conflict in Syria and the ability of the European Union to guarantee security are expected to top the agenda at this year's conference.
