USA: Drafting women into military combat roles is nuts, says Cruz
Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz spoke to around 500 supporters at a campaign rally in the town of Barrington, New Hampshire on Monday.
Cruz called the idea of drafting women into combat roles in the military "nuts," adding that "the idea that the federal government would forcibly conscript our daughters and put them in a combat role, put them in a foxhole fighting a jihadist, a 220 pound psychopath trying to kill them in a foxhole, is nuts."
The Republican senator also said that if elected he would reform income tax into a "simple flat tax of ten percent," adding that this means no longer will "the hedge fund billionaire pay a lower effective tax rate than his secretary."
Cruz also criticised the idea that the Republican party is the "party of the rich," adding that "the rich do just fine with big government. Big business gets in bed with big government, they have armies of lobbyists and lawyers and accountants and they grow and grow and grow Washington."
