Russia: T-72B3 tanks deal with Arctic conditions in training for Army Games
Burevestnik T-72B3 tank crews were put through their paces at a training ground in the Murmansk Region on Thursday, as they competed for selection to the Russian team that's due to compete in the tank biathlon competition at the International Army Games 2016.
Twelve armoured sections of Russia's Northern Fleet practiced their driving skills over rough terrain, overcoming obstacles that will likely be used during the Army Games.
The tankers prepared by performing complicated manoeuvres on terrain blanketed in snow, the thickness of which measured 50 to 100 centimetres (20-39 inches) in some locations.
The six best-performing crews during the elimination round will be selected to take part in further tank biathlon competitions. The elimination rounds for most of the competitions last until the end of March, with the International Army Games 2016 due to take place in Russia this August.
