Russia: Putin congratulates Patriarch Kirill on 7th anniversary of enthronement

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia on the seventh anniversary of his enthronement in Moscow, Monday.

Putin presented Patriarch Kirill with a bouquet of flowers and thanked him for his work. "Thank you very much for the developing of the Russian Orthodox Church and enhancing the unity of the Russian people," he said. "Enthronement day is a special day for people who dedicated their lives for church and sacred service," Putin added.

Patriarch Kirill formally assumed the position of Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia on February 1, 2009, at a ceremony in Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.
