Switzerland: PM Trudeau touts role Syrian refugees can play in Canada
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed the crowd at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, on Wednesday, emphasising the topic of diversity as the main tool for economic progress. "diversity is the engine of invention."
Speaking about the Syrian refugees that Canada took in recently, Trudeau said "when I welcomed those first families to Toronto last month, I welcomed them as new Canadians, and as the future of the Canadian economy. Diversity is not just sound social policy; diversity is the engine of invention. It generates creativity that enriches the world."
Trudeau went on to praise Canada's new look, saying "if you are looking for a country that has the diversity, the resilience, the positivity, and mostly the confidence, that will not just manage this change but take advantage of it, there has never been a better time to look to Canada."
The annual World Economic Forum is taking place in Davos between January 20 and 23, gathering high-ranked state leaders, experts and academia from all over the world.
